In 2015 we adapted our range of music workshops aimed at secondary schools for language schools. Our language school workshops integrate music making and the English language. The options we offer are outlined below:

Let’s Drum

Through games, activities and performing, our drumming workshops allow students to explore the percussion family, develop their understanding of the beat and improve their rhythmical ability, whilst performing as part of a drumming ensemble. Our language school drumming workshops encourage participants to learn how to play the drums and instruments from the wider percussion family through English. Let’s Drum workshops culminates in an end-of-session performance that combines the different rhythms and activities covered during the class.

Each Workshop Aims to:
  • give students an opportunity to learn about and perform on a range of drums and percussion instruments
  • develop each student’s ability to listen, follow instruction and work as a part of team
  • give students the opportunity to learn about and perform a range of rhythms from around the world that culminates in an end of workshop performance

Let's Sing

Our activity based Language School singing workshops explore the voice through interactive activities; investigate the importance of breathing and posture; develops each student’s aural awareness and increases their ability to project themselves.

Let’s Sing language school workshops incorporate a strong sense of team work, confidence building and positivity as the students work towards an end of workshop performance through the medium of English.

Each Workshop Aims to:
  • explore the sounds of the voice and professional singing technique
  • develop each student’s ability to follow instructions through English
  • give every student the opportunity to perform in a group performance that culminates in bringing all of the material covered and skills developed together
TY workshops

Let's Perform

Our fun based musical theatre workshop gives students a glimpse into the world of musical theatre that integrates music with drama and movement through the medium of English. Let’s Perform focuses on instilling personal confidence and self-esteem in participants, develops musical skills and encourages teamwork.
This workshop culminates in an end of class performance which sees the students perform a short section from a well-known musical.

Each Workshop Aims to:
  • develop self-expression and self-confidence through music, drama and movement
  • develop each student’s ability to listen, follow instruction and learn through the medium of English
  • give every participant the opportunity to perform in a group performance that culminates in bringing all of the material covered and skills developed together

Music is an important subject in our school and thanks to the Mobile Music School all of our children can read music notation and attained a high level of musical and aural awareness.
