Here at the Mobile Music School, we love delivering our amazing Let’s and Explore and Drumming workshops nationwide. This year, we delivered our Cruinniú na nÓg workshops across different types of schools, libraries and events. Without a doubt, we had an amazing time for Cruinniú na nÓg! What is Cruinniú na nÓg?
Cruinniú na nÓg is a day of free creativity for young people. Ireland is the first, and only, country in the world to have a national day of free creativity for children and young people under 18. Cruinniú na nÓg is a flagship initiative of the Creative Ireland Programme’s Creative Youth Plan to enable the creative potential of children and young people. The inaugural Cruinniú na nÓg took place on 23rd June 2018 and for the past number of years, including under exceptional circumstances in 2020, young people and families have come together to enjoy, a wide range of creative activities including workshops and tutorials to recitals and readings in every city, town and village across the country (cruinniu.creativeireland.gov.ie).
Let’s Explore & Drumming Workshops
This year, on July 10th, we delivered our Let’s Explore and our Drumming Workshops nationwide, to celebrate Cruinniú na nÓg.
Let’s Drum
One of our most popular music workshops for Cruinniú na nÓg was Let’s Drum. Through games, activities and performing, our drumming workshops allow students to explore the percussion family. Further, these drumming workshops also develop their understanding of rhythm and improve their rhythmical ability. Also, during these workshops, students perform as part of a drumming ensemble.
These sessions incorporate station learning and ensure that each child gets an opportunity to play four instruments. Each workshop culminates in a live end-of-workshop performance that combines the different rhythms and activities covered during the sessions.
Let’s Explore
Further, our Let’s Explore workshops were also a huge hit during Cruinniú na nÓg! These fun-filled, activity-based music workshops explore the world of music-making in an open and relaxed environment. Together with interactive games and hands-on learning, the children learn new musical skills and explore the world of music together. With every music lesson we deliver, our goal is to fuel students’ creativity with engaging content.
