Welcome to our third series of music education for schools! Here at the Mobile Music School, we get asked all the time what the secret is to the success of our music workshops and programmes. For this reason, we decided to give people our 5 step step guide to teaching music.

Our 5 Step Guide to Teaching Music Education – 5 part series

Our 5 step guide will give you all an inside look into a typical day in one of our Music in the Classroom programmes. In this music education series, we will go through the five different parts of these fun, interactive and educational music lessons; from warm-up to performances and warm-downs.

Music Warm Up

  • To start off a typical day, our tutors guide the children through an energizing warm up routine.
  • Students are shown how to warm up their whole body through movement and rhythm, and prepare their breathing and posture before singing.
  • This exercise is particularly helpful for practising concentration and co-ordination!

Warm-up with Lickety Split

  • After warming up and preparing their breathing and posture for singing, our tutors engage the children in an interactive warm up song called ‘Lickety Split’ that practices different levels of volume and tempo when singing – very popular with the kids!
