Our singing workshops are very popular here at the Mobile Music School! On Monday the 27th of June, we were delighted to be asked to Scoil Ghrainne CNS in Ongar, to deliver our Let’s Sing workshops as part of their summer camp. MMS music tutor Clare delivered the sessions with each group- read on to learn more about how the day went!

Singing Workshops- What do they involve?

These fun-filled singing workshops introduce students to correct posture, breathing, vocal technique and projection. Each singing workshop incorporates plenty of fun-filled ice breaker activities and warm-ups. This encourages the students to loosen up and relax! Further, the students then move on to their posture, technique and breathing exercises. Students are shown how each of these is performed properly. The children then incorporate these skills learnt during the warm up into the rest of the vocal exercises and activities. These activities include singing in rounds, games, vowel work and warm up songs. During these workshops, students will develop these technical skills, and put their newly learnt skills to good use in a class performance! The workshops culminate in a class act, where the class perform what they have learnt.

Let’s Sing in Scoil Ghrainne

Clare delivered 2×45 minute sessions with Junior infants to Third class, and Third class to Sixth class, and one 20 minute session with the ASD unit, as part of the schools summer camp. Each group worked on different ice breakers, games, warm ups and group songs, from Toy Story to the Beatles.

Each group developed their vocal abilities and technique, and had the chance to get competitive with group contests and challenges. The groups all got to work as part of a team, and their group performance was a reflection of their efforts!
