Here at the Mobile Music School, we pride ourselves on delivering high quality music for schools through short programmes, workshops and after school programmes. In our singing workshops, students are immersed in a highly energetic, fun-filled music-making session. We were delighted to be asked back to Ladyswell NS for another year, delivering our Let’s Perform Musical Theatre workshops. These fun singing workshops combine singing, movement and drama and the musical theatre element goes down a treat with the children each year.
This year, the workshops were led by music tutor Clare. Clare commented:
“The children in Ladyswell did a fantastic job in each of the singing workshops. They were really enthusiastic and threw themselves into each activity. I was so impressed with their teamwork, enthusiasm and talent. Well done to every class that took part!”
With this creative workshop, the students got a chance to explore musical theatre through fun games and activities. Clare gave each pupil a specific part and set of responsibilities, and every student played a role in the workshop.
The class groups started off with some drama games to warm up and to get into character. After some fun-based ‘ice-breaker’ activities, they then moved onto vocal warm ups and exercises. They learnt all about the importance of breathing, posture, and proper technique, and how to use these techniques. The children then spent some time working on a bit of drama and improvisation before finishing up with a group song. Each group learnt a song from a well known musical such as Oliver Twist or The Greatest Showman, and performed it together.
Over the course of the day, these students showed great enthusiasm, manners and a lot of talent; this was a real pleasure. A big congratulations and thank you to all the students and staff in Ladyswell NS for all their hard work.
