Let's Bodhrán

Our bodhrán workshops immerse children into the world of traditional Irish music. During our bodhrán workshops, each student gets the use of their own bodhrán. Workshops teach children the basic techniques required to play the bodhrán. Children learn how to play a jig and a reel. The workshops also include rhythm work, body percussion and musical games. The workshops culminate in an end of workshop performance that involves the pupils playing along with our tutor.

Each Workshop Aims to:
  • Develop each student’s awareness of Irish Traditional music
  • Enable each student to develop the basic techniques required to play the bodhrán
  • Promote teamwork
  • Harness each participants ability to listen and follow musical instructions

Each Workshop Aims to:
  • explore the sounds of the voice and professional singing technique
  • develop each student’s ability to listen, follow instruction and work as a part of team

The Mobile Music School provided a great activity for all of our 3rd year and TY students. It was a high energy event and all students were given an opportunity to lead the group exercises. Everyone got a chance to use the full range of percussion instruments that was available on the day.
