With the beginning of the school year just around the corner, now is the time to plan ways to incorporate primary school music into your daily school life. There are many simple and effective ways to do this that students and teachers alike will enjoy. Read on to discover how to build music into your daily routine.
- Morning Mozart: As students are entering the classroom in the morning, chatting with their friends and getting sorted for the day, play this relaxing Mozart music gently in the background. This will help to familiarise students with this iconic classical composer while also creating a calming atmosphere in the classroom.
- Clap to Attention: Looking for a way to immediately get your students attention and focus on you whenever necessary? Come up with a really simple four-beat clapping pattern. When you clap this pattern, the students have to repeat it back to you, making it a really simple call-and-response exercise.
- Movement Break: Incorporate a movement break between different activities or subjects to give students a chance to burn off some steam and refocus. There are loads of different movement break videos to be found on Youtube. Here is a fun one suitable for 1st-3rd class.
