Seachtain na Gaeilge 2023 has arrived!  Our team of tutors will be delivering music workshops for schools as Gaeilge to both Primary and Secondary Schools across Ireland. Our busiest time of year, Seachtain na Gaeilge is a great opportunity for us to fuse our passion for music with our passion for Gaeilge. We are delighted to say that our Seachtain na Gaeilge Workshops for schools are fully booked up for 2023, but why not read on to have a peak into what we’ll be getting up to!

Seachtain na Gaeilge

Seachtain na Gaeilge (Irish Language Week) is an international Irish language festival and one of the biggest international celebrations of our native language and culture. The festival runs from 1 – 17 March every year. Schools nationwide spend this period learning about the Irish language, music and culture. Each year, Seachtain na Gaeilge proves to be our busiest time of year!

Workshops for Schools- Our Trad Sessions, Let’s Explore & Let’s Drum

This year for Seachtain na Gaeilge, we are offering our Trad Sessions, our Let’s Explore workshops or our Let’s Drum workshops for schools, either as Gaeilge, or incorporating Gaeilge, depending on the school’s preference.  Our team is  so lucky to have facilitators who speak fluent Irish. As a result, we can offer “craic agus ceol” workshops for schools for Seachtain na Gaeilge.

Trad Sessions

Our ‘Trad Sessions’ workshops are a development of the Irish Trad music workshops we did last year! This year, the focus is on a range of different Irish instruments, with two musicians bringing in a variety of different traditional Irish instruments. During these sessions, our musicians will play for the children across a range of traditional Irish instruments. Repertoire includes a mix of songs and pieces of music that introduce the children to a range of different types of traditional music and give the children the opportunity to clap, sing and move along. As part of the content the children from 1st class up will learn the song Oró Sé Do Bheatha Baile.

Let’s Drum

One of our most popular music workshops for schools during Seachtain na Gaeilge is Let’s Drum. Through games, activities and performing, our drumming workshops allow primary school students to explore the percussion family, develop their understanding of rhythm and improve their rhythmical ability, whilst performing as part of a drumming ensemble.

These sessions incorporate station learning and ensure that each child gets an opportunity to play four instruments. Each workshop culminates in a live end-of-workshop performance that combines the different rhythms and activities covered during the sessions.

Let’s Explore

Further, our Let’s Explore workshops are also a huge hit during Seachtain na Gaeilge! These fun-filled, activity-based music workshops explore the world of music-making in an open and relaxed environment. Together with interactive games and hands-on learning, the children learn new musical skills and explore the world of music together. With every music lesson we deliver, our goal is to fuel students’ creativity with engaging content.
