The boys of St. Michael’s NS are focusing on their violin performance for the Royal Irish Academy of Music’s Cara Awards.

As part of the students’ ‘Violin in the Classroom’ programme, Mobile Music tutor Rebecca is helping the students practice and prepare their violin pieces for the Awards.

3rd class got the opportunity to borrow violins from school to practice at home. The boys are working hard on their solo piece, and have continued to practice their group piece and two scale from home; we love to see students so enthusiastic and dedicated to their instrument.

The boys doing Ceim 1 (level 1) will have to pluck their solo piece and use the bow for their open string group piece. Rebecca will focus on helping them perfect their technical skills in preparation for the different pieces.

The boys doing Ceim 2 (level 2) will be bowing their solo piece as well as their group piece. In order to keep improving between weekly lessons, the students accessed backing tracks online so they could practice at home.

The Cara Music Awards will take place in the school next week. We have no doubt that the boys will give a super performance!
