With our ‘Let’s Sing’ music programme for schools, pupils have the opportunity to learn and perform a wide repertoire of songs, develop their aural awareness through vocal games and explore the beat and rhythm too.
The ‘Let’s Sing’ music classes for our special needs groups in Gorey Educate Together were jam-packed full of interactive action songs. This led to playing percussion instruments and using songs like ‘Shake & Stop’ and ‘Up so High, Down so low’.
Listening, beat and movement were applied to fun songs like the ‘Teddy Bears Picnic’, ‘Happy’, ‘Gummy Bear’, ‘Sleigh Ride’, ‘Everything is Awesome’ and ‘Do Your Ears Hang Low’. Students also added percussion to the syncopated clock and reacted for the alarm as well as the Surprise Symphony and some classical relaxing music.
The older group had lots of fun playing Don’t Clap This One Back and perfecting Tiga Layo & Jingle Bell Rock. The class also enjoyed a game whereby Joanne set up various instruments in a row and one student got to play a sequence of sounds while the rest of the class closed their eyes. Afterwards, a student had to try recreate the sequence with some gameshow right/wrong sound effects from the rest of the class – a great way to finish off a term full of fun and learning!
