Here at the Mobile Music School, we are probably most well known for our one-off workshops. However we also deliver music programmes for primary schools nationwide. The great thing about these programmes is that because they occur weekly, the children are building upon and developing the concepts they learn each week, establishing a solid musical foundation for the future. These music programmes for primary schools prove to be extremely popular each year, with us delivering 25 programmes nationwide in 2021/22 alone! Our programmes can either be short programmes, which are 6 or 10 week blocks, or classroom music programmes, which are 30 week blocks- for the duration of the school year.
Music Programmes for Primary Schools: What Are We Offering for 2022/23?
Our Ukulele programme is very popular with primary schools, and it’s easy to see why! The ukulele is a simple, versatile instrument, used in many modern pop songs. It’s inexpensive, portable and fun, and as a result, is usually a firm favorite with children. Our Ukulele programme aims to teach children how to be technically and musically proficient in playing the ukulele. Children will learn how to perform as part of an ensemble, and will even learn how to read music notation. Ukulele classes incorporate set material that the children need to learn to become proficient musicians. The classes also incorporate choice materials such as current pop songs.
We offer Ukulele as both a short or long term programme. Please note that the Mobile Music School do not provide Ukuleles.
One of our most popular programmes, Let’s Explore introduces children to the world of music. These classes are interactive, hands on and fun, where the children are learning without realizing they are learning. Let’s Explore aims to give children a firm musical foundation. During these classes, students discover the components that make up music, including the conductor and composer, the beat and rhythm, listening and responding to music from around the world, composing music, music notation and song singing. This programme culminates in many classroom performances of the material covered.
Our Let’s Explore programme can be offered as both a short term programme, or a classroom music programme, which runs for the duration of the school year.
Let’s Sing aims to introduce pupils to proper singing technique, breathing and posture, enabling them to nurture and develop a talent for singing. During each class pupils learn and perform a wide repertoire of songs, develop their aural awareness through vocal games and explore other musical elements such as the beat, rhythm, timbre, pitch, use of tonic sol-fa and harmony. This programme culminates in a performance of the songs covered during classes.
Our Let’s Sing programme is available as a short programme only.
Our Percussion programme explores music from all over the world, and aims to give children an understanding of the role of percussion in music from all corners of the world. Each class also investigates the importance of ‘the beat’, develops each child’s rhythmical ability, teaches students how to read and create music notation, and gives pupils an opportunity to perform as part of a classroom percussion ensemble. Each week, students will each get a turn on various different percussion instruments, and will perform as a group weekly.
