Here at the Mobile Music School, we deliver high quality music for schools nationwide! Seachtain na Gaeilge 2025 was another great success for us! Our team of tutors had a ball delivering music workshops as Gaeilge to both Primary and Secondary Schools across Ireland, as well as libraries and events. Our busiest time of year, Seachtain na Gaeilge is a great opportunity for us to fuse our passion for music with our passion for Gaeilge. Read on to learn all about what we got up to!
Music for Schools- Let’s Explore & Let’s Drum
This year for Seachtain na Gaeilge, we offered our Let’s Explore workshops or our Let’s Drum workshops for schools, either as Gaeilge, or incorporating Gaeilge, depending on the school’s preference. Our team is so lucky to have facilitators who speak fluent Irish. As a result, we can offer “craic agus ceol” workshops for schools for Seachtain na Gaeilge.
Let’s Drum
One of our most popular music workshops for schools during Seachtain na Gaeilge is Let’s Drum. Through games, activities and performing, our drumming workshops allow primary school students to explore the percussion family, develop their understanding of rhythm and improve their rhythmical ability, whilst performing as part of a drumming ensemble.
These sessions incorporate station learning and ensure that each child gets an opportunity to play four instruments. Each workshop culminates in a live end-of-workshop performance that combines the different rhythms and activities covered during the sessions.
Let’s Explore
Further, our Let’s Explore workshops are also a huge hit during Seachtain na Gaeilge! These fun-filled, activity-based music workshops explore the world of music-making in an open and relaxed environment. Together with interactive games and hands-on learning, the children learn new musical skills and explore the world of music together. With every music lesson we deliver, our goal is to fuel students’ creativity with engaging content.
Workshops for Schools- Our ‘Trad Sessions’ Workshops
This year, we were delighted to offer our Trad Sessions workshops again. The focus for these workshops was on a range of different Irish instruments, with two musicians bringing in a variety of different traditional Irish instruments. During these sessions, our musicians played for the children across a range of traditional Irish instruments. These instruments included the flute, whistle, guitar, keyboard, and bodhrán! The repertoire included a mix of songs and pieces of music that introduced the children to Irish traditional music. These renditions also gave the children the opportunity to clap, sing and move along.

“Thanks so much to the two ladies for last week. The kids loved it! I got great reports from the teachers who attended. It was also really great to have our autism classes included in the day’s events so thanks again!”-Assumption JNS
“Our classes really enjoyed experiencing the trad music with James and Maëlla last Tuesday. James played his two guitars and shrooty box and Maëlla played the tin whistle flutes and Bodhran. The children loved listening to the different instruments and singing the trad song. It was a great interactive session.” – Lucan ETNS
