Here at the Mobile Music School, we really value the importance of music for primary schools. We pride ourselves on delivering high quality music for primary schools nationwide. Considering this, each year we deliver workshops, short programmes, and classroom music programmes to hundreds of schools, libraries, youth centres and language schools nationwide! Further, each week, our tutors are working hard across the country to provide high quality music education to students.
Last year, we developed our workshops for July Provision in Schools. We wanted to develop our workshops to be more inclusive, and to cater for schools all throughout their summer, as part of the July Provision programme in schools. Further on from this, we’ve developed these workshops even further this year. This year, we are catering for all schools availing of the Summer Programme provision for 2024. Considering this, why not read on, and learn more about our Summer Programme workshops!
Music for Primary Schools: What is the Summer Programme for Schools?
The Summer Programme provides educational supports during the summer to children with special needs and those at most risk of educational disadvantage.
The Summer Programme 2024 includes:
- School-based summer programme for children with special educational needs. Further, children who are at risk of educational disadvantage are also included. It includes children in special classes, special schools and mainstream schools.
- Home-based provision for children with complex needs (where a school-based programme is not available).
- Summer camps in DEIS schools focusing on numeracy and literacy.
All primary schools and post-primary schools including DEIS schools have the opportunity to provide a summer programme for mainstream pupils with complex needs. Further, those at greatest risk of educational disadvantage also have this oppurtunity.
The Summer Programme is based on the July Provision which was delivered to children with special educational needs in previous years by the Department of Education. (www.citizensinformation.ie).
What workshops are we offering for the Summer Programmes?
As part of our Summer Programme workshops, we are offering either our Let’s Explore, or Let’s Drum workshops.
Let’s Drum
One of our most popular music workshops in schools is Let’s Drum. Through games, activities and performing, our drumming workshops allow students to explore the percussion family. Further, these drumming workshops also develop their understanding of rhythm and improve their rhythmical ability. Also, during these workshops, students perform as part of a drumming ensemble.
These sessions also incorporate station learning. Further, they also ensure that each child gets an opportunity to play four instruments. These workshops culminate in a live end-of-workshop performance. This performance combines the different rhythms and activities covered during the sessions.
Let’s Explore
Further, our Let’s Explore workshops are always a huge hit as well! These fun-filled, activity-based music workshops explore the world of music-making in an open and relaxed environment. In addition, together with interactive games and hands-on learning, the children learn new musical skills and explore the world of music together. With every music lesson we deliver, our goal is to fuel students’ creativity with engaging content.
