Here at the Mobile Music School, we deliver high quality team building workshops nationwide. One type of team building workshops that we offer, is our teacher training workshops. Our teacher training workshops are aimed at primary school teachers. These workshops give teachers a platform to highlight some of the challenges and shortcomings they encounter teaching curriculum music. Further, these primary school workshops have been so successful, that many of the schools we have been in ask us back for more! In today’s post we’ll discuss the teacher training workshops we offered this year in Gaelscoil na nDeise. Team Building Workshops: What’s involved in our Teacher Training Workshops?
One thing we hear from primary school teachers constantly is that they don’t feel confident teaching music in the classroom. As a result, we developed our teacher training workshops, to help primary school teachers in this area. Our teacher training workshops are designed to help teachers in delivering the Music Curriculum in the classroom. These workshops equip teachers with the necessary skills to deliver the Irish Primary School Music Curriculum, and aim to help tutors in forming their own lesson plans, in knowing where to look for resources, and much more.
MMS tutor Kevin led all three sessions in Gaeilscoil na nDeise. Kevin incorporated some of the Kodaly teaching method into his content, and trained all the teachers on how to do the same. The teachers covered lots of content to incorporate into their own classes, and left with a framework on how to plan and carry out a primary school music lesson. Going forward, the teachers have been armed with plenty of content and training to bring into their classroom music lessons!
