This year we have returned to Stratford Primary School once again to resume our fun-based, pre- instrumental music lessons.  These music classes explore the sounds of everyday life, and give pupils the chance to perform on percussion instruments and to have fun playing a range of musical games.

Here at the Mobile Music School we believe that children should be given exposure to music from a young age in a fun, calm and interactive learning environment. Music education in the early stages of childhood has a wide range of benefits in areas such as language development, long-term memory, hand-eye co-ordination, problem-solving and social competence, to name just a few!

Our music classes are taught using the Kodaly method, whereby children learn musical concepts by using songs and musical activities.  Our students are currently learning to keep a steady beat, clap rhythms, hand-sign and read solfa notes so, la and mi.

It is great to see the children fully engaged in the music-making process. Mobile Music tutor Eliza was very impressed by how quickly her pre-instrumental groups manage to grasp a concept.

The aim of these music lessons for primary schools is to give children a positive musical experience – which we hope is the beginning of a long musical journey with music making!
