Ukulele
Our 6 week ukulele programme acts as an introduction to the ukulele. During the programme, every child learns a range of chords that will enable them to be able to perform the songs we teach during the classes. Many of the songs can be differentiated so as some children are playing the melody line and others playing the harmony. This ensures every child comes away from the programme with a sense of achievement.
Aims:
- Develop the musical and aural awareness of each child as their confidence increases as musicians.
- Provide a fundamental understanding of musical concepts via the ukulele.
- Establish a firm understanding of all of the core musical elements.
Learn & Explore
Based on the 3 core strands of the primary school music curriculum, our Learn & Explore programme develops a set of transferable musical skills within each child, that they can later utilize if and when they begin to learn a musical instrument. Simply put, this programme develops a firm musical foundation in every child. The content covered includes musical games, listening activities, rhythm, music notation, percussion instruments, introduction to the orchestra, action songs, composition and song singing. Depending on the tutor who comes to your school, they may choose to lean into some aspects a little more than others, but overall there is a good balance in the content
Aims:
- Introduce children to the world of music and give every child a solid set of transferable musical skills.
- Encourage pupils to express themselves through music and movement and internalise the musical concepts covered through structured and free activities.
- Give classroom teachers a set of practical activities and skills that they can incorporate into their own music classes.
