Classroom Music programmes run over the course of the school year, which sees us working in schools for a block of 20 weeks or more. We offer a variety of different interactive, educational and fun music programmes that are outlined below.

Music in the Classroom
Based on the 3 core strands of the primary school music curriculum, our Music in the Classroom programme develops a set of transferable musical skills within each child, that they can later utilize if and when they begin to learn a musical instrument. Simply put, this programme develops a firm musical foundation in every child. The content covered includes musical games, listening activities, rhythm, music notation, percussion instruments, introduction to the orchestra, action songs, composition and song singing. Depending on the tutor who comes to your school they may choose to lean into some aspects a little more than others, but overall there is a good balance in the content.
Aims:
- introducing children to the world of music and giving every child a firm musical foundation
- encouraging pupils to express themselves through music and movement and internalise the musical concepts covered through structured and free activities
- giving classroom teachers a set of practical activities and skills that they can incorporate into their own music classes

Violin in the Classroom
These weekly violin classes aim to develop a set of musical skills in every pupil, as their technical ability to play the violin improves. This programme covers a range of repertoire from our set and choice list. Our set list consists of the mandatory pieces of music we deem necessary to teach, so as each child’s technical ability improves, while the choice songs are used as supplementary material. Additional content includes singing to develop aural awareness, musical games, listening activities, composition, music notation and music theory. Please note that the Mobile Music School does not provide schools with violins.
Aims:
- developing the musical and aural awareness of each child as their confidence increases as proficient violin players
- increasing the fundamental understanding of the elements of music through the violin
- instilling a sense of achievement in children through working towards school performances, and sitting the Cara Awards

Ukulele in the Classroom
These weekly ukulele classes aim to develop a set of musical skills in every pupil, as their technical ability to play the ukulele improves. This programme covers a range of songs from our set and choice lists. Our set list are the songs we deem mandatory to learn so as each child’s technical ability improves, while the choice songs are used as supplementary material. Additional content includes singing, musical games, listening activities, composition in the form of song writing and basic music theory. Please note that the Mobile Music School does not provide ukuleles for schools.
Aims:
- developing the musical and aural awareness of each child as their confidence increases as musicians
- providing a fundamental understanding of musical concepts via the ukulele
- establish a firm understanding of all of the core musical elements

Recorder in the Classroom
These weekly Recorder classes aim to develop a set of musical skills in every pupil as their technical ability to play the recorder improves. This programme covers a range of repertoire from our set and choice list. Our set lists are the mandatory pieces of music we deem necessary to teach, so as each child’s technical ability improves, while the choice songs are used as supplementary material. Additional content includes singing to develop aural awareness, musical games, listening activities, composition, music notation and music theory. Please note that the Mobile Music School does not provide recorders for schools.

- introducing children to a variety of music as classes are based on repertoire from all parts of the world
- instilling a sense of achievement in children through working towards the Cara Awards
