The Junior and Senior infants of Gaelscoil Inse Chór are getting great enjoyment out of their ten week ‘Learn & Explore’ music programme. As part of our short-term music for primary schools, these interactive, activity-based music lessons aim to enhance each child’s musical awareness and aim to give each child a firm musical foundation.

Since commencing the programmes in November, Mobile Music tutor Siún has introduced many different types of music and musical instruments to the class groups. Throughout the course of the programme, students discover that music tells a story. With the help of our professional tutors like Siún, they explore the role of the conductor, investigate the importance of percussion, and learn about dynamics, tempo, mood, the beat and rhythm.

In just one month alone, Siún has seen a lot of development in the students’ musical understanding. The junior infants class have grasped the concept of emotion in music as well as rhythm in music.

The senior infants class have also developed an understanding of dynamics. The group has focused on themes in music and various ways they are portrayed.

In the coming weeks, the students will learn and perform songs, compose music using set sounds and play along to music as part of an ensemble.
