On May 9th and 10th 2016, Mobile Music School had the pleasure of working with Gaelscoil an Bhradáin Feasa in the Droichead Arts Theatre in Drogheda.
Spread across two days and four performances, our drum line from Gaelscoil an Bhradáin Feasa performed for family, friends and parents along with other local primary and secondary schools. The students worked so hard in preparation for their performance; they did themselves, the school, and us, very proud!
The boys have been receiving weekly lessons from Shay Lally since they began in Rang a hAon. The boys are now in Rang a Trí and are flying along! Shay comments:
“One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is teaching music lessons to the kids. It is great to see young students develop their skills and become proficient in playing an instrument. In addition, the children also become more comfortable performing in front of an audience which is very valuable for public speaking later in life. There really is so many benefits to providing music education in schools and I’m glad to be a part of it.”
Across the four shows, they performed a snare drum piece called ‘Accent Patrol’ and a percussion ensemble piece titled ‘Off-Beat’.
We are delighted to say the feedback that followed was very complementary; one parent commented on how much her child loved their drumming classes, and how excited they were to be performing in public. We were so thrilled to hear this, in addition to the positive feedback we received about the students’ tremendous progress and improvement.
All in all, it was a highly enjoyable and fun few days for all involved.
Mol an óige agus tiocfaidh sí!
