“We had our Workshop from 2-3pm today with Karen from Mobile Music School. I had no clue that you could teach so much in one hour. We learnt how to read music, about rhythm, about listening. We learnt songs to sing that keep us alert. We learnt about instruments musicians use in the Orchestra. Finally we learnt how to conduct an orchestra. We actually also drew some music notes as well and learnt how to recognize different notes. We not only learnt a huge deal about music but we had great fun as well. I would highly recommend this Workshop to anyone interested or not in music. Karen the teacher was exceptionally nice and so gifted and generous. Just to say a big thank you……. Everyone really enjoyed it and the tutor was excellent. It was just aimed at the right level for the two groups we had, and everyone had lots of fun whilst learning something new. “
Siobhan McCrystal – Stewarts Care
“Mobile Music School has been an excellent addition to our Transition Year Programme over the past three years. They are one of the first workshops we add to our diary each year. Given how impressed we were with the workshops, school management now book Mobile Music for our school Arts week so other year groups experience these fun & interactive workshops. Katie is fantastic at the Musical Theatre workshop & Ciara is brilliant with the Drumming! All instruments are provided so all students have to do is show up! Definitely one not to be missed!”
Kerri O’Brien – Transition Year Co-ordinator, Beneavin College
“As part of Music Week in our school recently, we had the Mobile Music School out to do a day’s workshop. It was such a fantastic experience for the children involved. Katie, the music tutor, engaged with the children from the moment the workshop began. There were vocal and warm up exercises, followed by singing, dancing and movement practices, so that by the end of a 45 minute session the children could fully perform a routine. The children were thrilled with themselves! I would not hesitate to recommend Mobile Music School to any school. We will certainly be using them again.”
Aidan Fleming – Teacher, Ladyswell NS

It was a really fun day!”

“On behalf of our students and teachers, I’d like to thank you for your time and effort last week. Your drumming workshops were very enjoyable and informative. There was lots of positive feedback afterwards and I hope that the teachers will take some of what you taught back to their own classroom teaching also.”
Gwen Whyte – Teacher, St. Columba’s GNS
“I just want to say how happy we are with Conor [Mobile Music tutor]. He really got to know my 11yr old daughter‘s learning style. Last year she wanted to give up piano, a new teacher was our only hope. Conor’s approach has completely engaged her. Relaxing from the exam specific curriculum means she is happy to practice again. I am so relieved her musical education is continuing, and the previous hard work has not been abandoned. Thanks again!”

Claire O’Rourke – Music teacher, St. Dominic’s College
“My daughter is really enjoying Glee Club. She is usually shy in front of others and I was amazed to hear her say that she loves to sing and dance with the group. She doesn’t give it a second thought. I asked why is it different from learning songs in school and she said ‘because it’s fun with the actions and we can choose ourselves how much we want to do.’”
Angela Keegan – Parent
“The Mobile Music School provided a great activity for all of our 3rd year and TY students. It was a high energy event and all students were given an opportunity to lead the group exercises. The rotation system was really enjoyable as everyone got a chance to use the full range of percussion instruments that was available on the day. This music session involved teamwork, timing and concentration. The experience and control of the two groups by their instructor, Shay Lally, was excellent. As a transition year coordinator, I am always on the lookout for suitable, challenging and affordable activities for our TY students. I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending the Mobile Music School for a very enjoyable and rewarding music session.”
Bernard McCormack – TY Coordinator, Cabra Community College
“My 2 girls, aged 9 and 11 years, attend music classes as an after school programme in Edmondstown NS, Rathfarnham, where they’re very happy and learning plenty about the art of singing and Music. I sat in on the first class, as a supervisor is needed. I was very impressed by Linda, as she was very professional but well able to deal with the mix of ages. It’s clear that she adores her job. Her voice is magnificent, and the class is very relaxed and informal. I come from the era of learning in a different manner, so this was totally refreshing to see!”
Helen Casey – Parent
“In February we booked the Mobile Music School to deliver a drumming workshop with our JCSP students. It was clear from the moment the tutor entered our school that they were au fait with a school environment and young people. “The Mobile Music School brought vivacious workshops to our Seachtain na Gaeilge programme in Swords Library. The older children learned a song as Gaeilge, and the younger children drummed themselves to delight, accompanied by the cúpla focail. The teacher was very flexible and accommodating, and we were delighted that we could have this as an accessible, bi-lingual event.”
Maighread Medbh – Swords Library
“Shay came to our school for a two-day percussion workshop with the children. The children were actively engaged throughout the workshop and Shay pitched every workshop according to each group’s age and ability level. The children had lots of fun playing music while it reinforced their understanding of rhythm, pulse ,timbre, structure and dynamics. Teachers commented afterwards that they picked up practical ideas from the workshop in relation to their teaching of these concepts. Thanks Shay!”
