Shay has been working with 3rd class to 6th class groups in Gaelscoil an Bhradáin Feasa each week since their ‘Percussion in the Classroom’ programme commenced last September.

Here at the Mobile Music School, we fuse both our passion for music and Irish together, on a regular basis, by delivering workshops and programmes as Gaeilge to schools nationwide.

In Gaelscoil an Bhradáin Feasa, Shay spent a week working on some pieces for a TV show ‘Cleas Act’, which is being aired on TG4. The show will feature one of the classes playing Cheers Squad, and a group of percussionists accompanying the 6th class groups as they sing ‘Cheerleader’ as Gaeilge. The students have been working so hard on their performance – we can’t wait to see the end result!

Since starting with the younger students, Shay has been teaching pupils to read music notation, play in time, as well as developing their rhythmical, musical and technical knowledge.

We get such a thrill from seeing how much the drums excite each child. Our percussion project has proven popular with girls and boys alike, as each student is given the opportunity to perform on their chosen instrument during percussion ensemble performances.
