“The Mobile Music School have been delivering Percussion in the Classroom with the children in our school since 2012. During this time their explosive teaching style has gotten every pupil participating with music in our school. Music is an important subject in our school and thanks to the Mobile Music School all of our children can read music notation and attained a high level of musical and aural awareness.”
Jean Leonard – Principal, Scoil Monica:
“The workshop was excellent today, that was the feedback from all the teachers and pupils. She’s a great teacher. I would hope we might be able to fund another similar workshop in the next term.”
Raymond Swan – Principal, Gorey Educate Together NS
“Joanne worked with all our classes: Junior Infants – 6th class and our special classes for children with autism. All sessions were engaging and inclusive. We plan to re-book for the new school year!”
Valarie Monaghan – Principal, Scoil Chiaráin:
“The opportunity to see, handle and play a variety of music instruments was wonderful and they learned a lot from the experience.”
Múinteoir Eoin – Gaelscoil na gCloch Liath
“The Mobile Music School have been delivering short programmes with the children in our school since 2013. Their programmes continuously prove to be a big success as they are very games and activity based. The wonderful thing about these programmes is that the children are learning deeply about music without even realising that they are learning.
Kerri O’Brien – Transition Year Co-ordinator, Beneavin College
“Mobile Music School has been an excellent addition to our Transition Year Programme over the past three years. They are one of the first workshops we add to our diary each year. Given how impressed we were with the workshops, school management now book Mobile Music for our school Arts week so other year groups experience these fun & interactive workshops. Katie is fantastic at the Musical Theatre workshop & Ciara is brilliant with the Drumming! All instruments are provided so all students have to do is show up! Definitely one not to be missed!”
Helen McHugh – Music Teacher, Collinstown Park Community College
“Mobile Music was fantastic! They supplied all the instruments and the students learned different rhythms and performed together. Student feedback was brilliant, very enjoyable afternoon, highly recommended.”
Aidan Fleming – Teacher, Ladyswell NS
“As part of Music Week in our school recently, we had the Mobile Music School out to do a day’s workshop. It was such a fantastic experience for the children involved. Katie, the music tutor, engaged with the children from the moment the workshop began. There were vocal and warm up exercises, followed by singing, dancing and movement practices, so that by the end of a 45 minute session the children could fully perform a routine. The children were thrilled with themselves! I would not hesitate to recommend Mobile Music School to any school. We will certainly be using them again.”
Elaine Doherty – Parent
“I just want to say how happy we are with Conor [Mobile Music tutor]. He really got to know my 11yr old daughter‘s learning style. Last year she wanted to give up piano, a new teacher was our only hope. Conor’s approach has completely engaged her. Relaxing from the exam specific curriculum means she is happy to practice again. I am so relieved her musical education is continuing, and the previous hard work has not been abandoned. Thanks again!”
Helen Casey – Parent
“My 2 girls, aged 9 and 11 years, attend music classes as an after school programme in Edmondstown NS, Rathfarnham, where they’re very happy and learning plenty about the art of singing and Music. I sat in on the first class, as a supervisor is needed. I was very impressed by Linda, as she was very professional but well able to deal with the mix of ages. It’s clear that she adores her job. Her voice is magnificent, and the class is very relaxed and informal. I come from the era of learning in a different manner, so this was totally refreshing to see!”
Claire O’Rourke – Music teacher, St. Dominic’s College:
“The workshop was fantastic. The students really enjoyed it and learned some great techniques! Katie was great with the girls and really helped bring some of them out of their shell, gave great praise to students who needed it most and encouraged even the most unmotivated students to take part!”
Bernard McCormack – TY Coordinator, Cabra Community College:
“The Mobile Music School provided a great activity for all of our 3rd year and TY students. It was a high energy event and all students were given an opportunity to lead the group exercises. The rotation system was really enjoyable as everyone got a chance to use the full range of percussion instruments that was available on the day. This music session involved teamwork, timing and concentration. The experience and control of the two groups by their instructor, Shay Lally, was excellent.
As a transition year coordinator, I am always on the lookout for suitable, challenging and affordable activities for our TY students. I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending the Mobile Music School for a very enjoyable and rewarding music session.”
Angela Keegan – Parent
“My daughter is really enjoying Glee Club. She is usually shy in front of others and I was amazed to hear her say that she loves to sing and dance with the group. She doesn’t give it a second thought. I asked why is it different from learning songs in school and she said ‘because it’s fun with the actions and we can choose ourselves how much we want to do.’”
Múinteoir Joanne – Skerries ETNS:
“Shay came to our school for a two-day percussion workshop with the children. The children were actively engaged throughout the workshop and Shay pitched every workshop according to each group’s age and ability level.
The children had lots of fun playing music while it reinforced their understanding of rhythm, pulse ,timbre, structure and dynamics. Teachers commented afterwards that they picked up practical ideas from the workshop in relation to their teaching of these concepts.
Maighread Medbh – Swords Library:
“The Mobile Music School brought vivacious workshops to our Seachtain na Gaeilge programme in Swords Library. The older children learned a song as Gaeilge, and the younger children drummed themselves to delight, accompanied by the cúpla focail. The teacher was very flexible and accommodating, and we were delighted that we could have this as an accessible, bi-lingual event.”
Nicola – NZone, Co. Dublin:
“The Mobile Music School ran an after-school music programme for the children in our centre. The children thoroughly enjoyed working with Cliona who was such a lively and energetic tutor.
We were very impressed with The Mobile Music School from start to finish. From the very first email, Shay was extremely helpful and answered any questions I had and would highly recommend them to others.”
Emer Cahill – Teacher, Coláiste Chiaráin, Co. Limerick
“In February we booked the Mobile Music School to deliver a drumming workshop with our JCSP students. It was clear from the moment the tutor entered our school that they were au fait with a school environment and young people. Each workshop was a huge success with every pupils obtaining a number of JCSP specific statements. All in all I would highly recommend the Mobile Music School to any secondary school”
